Jeanmarie A. Cosgrove, DMD is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. A board certified pediatric dentist, Dr. Cosgrove proudly opened her private practice, Pediatric Dental Center of Avon, in August 2009.
In 1995, Dr. Cosgrove graduated from the University of Connecticut at Storrs as an Honors Scholar with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. As part of the Honors Program, she worked in the Virology and Interferon Research Laboratory where she produced and defended her thesis entitled Primary Bovine Tongue Cells as Host for the Study of Interferon Induction and Action by Vesicular Stomatitis Virus. Her research won the prestigious Margaret F. Ertman Award for outstanding undergraduate research.
In 1999, Dr. Cosgrove graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, CT. She continued her training at UConn and completed a two-year pediatric dental residency program. While in residency, Dr. Cosgrove gained proficiency in conscious sedation, oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia, and the latest restorative techniques. She especially enjoys custom mouth guard fabrication for the prevention of sports related injuries.
Dr. Cosgrove is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Health and Diagnostic Sciences at UConn School of Dental Medicine where she mentors dental students in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. She is currently on active medical staff at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, CT. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Hartford Dental Society.
Dr. Cosgrove resides in Avon, CT with her husband, daughter, and son. She can be found around town and the Farmington Valley at her kids many practices and games for field hockey, flag football, ice hockey, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, and softball. Her kids always wear their mouth guards!
